I Touchy

It's Friday, it's hot, I'm a tad grumpy. My craft table is a mess of papers, bills, receipts, notes and scraps of fabric, needles and pins. I was a very lucky girl over christmas, and was gifted an I-Touch, which sits in it's box amongst the mess as I need a case for it.

After sifting through, grouping things into piles, I came across a piece of fabric cut from one of Kristen Doran's craft panels...a front and back panel for a cute owl (check her website for stockists). How often do us crafty types look at fabric or ribbon or notions and think, 'I like it, not sure what I'll do with it yet, but I must have it!'

Well finally - a clear idea - today, I'm making a case for my I-Touch using this owl fabric! Right, how?

Step 1. Google: 'I-Touch cover sewing'

Step 2. Look and compare blog tutorials that generous bloggers have made.

Step 3. Pick the one I like best.

I liked this tutorial by Robyn of Dog Named Banjo craft blog as it was a very clear tutorial (great photos) and the cover had a little closure with velcro...I like velco. Also, you can poke the headphones through the top as there is a tab to secure the I-Touch in, not a flap.

Step 4a. Start making

Step 4b. Unpick a few times, swear a bit as you realise you screwed something up

Step 4c. Ask flatmate for advice

Step 4d. Make last minute changes...while unpicking again. I decided to make the closing tab fasten on the back - so the velcro dot is at the back of the head of the owl (rather than covering his face).

and Step 5. Marvel at how brilliant you are as the case is actually not too shabby (against all odds)!

  2. I have a couple of things to say about this post.
    1. I cannot tell you how many scraps of fabric lurk around my craft table. 2. From this post I get the feeling of intentioned inspiration. Here you are looking at the mess you call a craft table and suddenly the idea hits you. Good luck with future projects. Check out my blog sometime, it follows a similar vein. http://sewnandheard.blogspot.com/
